What ID does a visitor need?
Any government-issued photo ID showing you are 21 or over. An out-of-state driving licence works. A foreign passport works. A photograph of a document does not, and neither does an expired one. The name has to match the name on the order, which catches people out when they book under a nickname.
Do I need a medical card?
No. Every state Cannalab47 is licensed in is an adult-use market, so a card buys you nothing as a visitor. See the legal guide for what applies in each of the fifteen states we serve.
Where can I actually consume it?
Almost nowhere public, and this is the part visitors most often get wrong. Consumption is restricted to private property. It is an offence in a vehicle whether you are driving or parked, driver or passenger. Beaches, parks, pavements and venues are out. Driving under the influence is a serious criminal offence.
Can I smoke it in my hotel room?
Assume not. The overwhelming majority of hotels prohibit smoking of any kind indoors and charge a cleaning fee when it happens, and a “420-friendly” listing usually means a designated outdoor area rather than permission in the room. Ask the property directly before you check in rather than after. Edibles and tinctures avoid the question entirely, since neither produces smoke or smell.
Can I take it home with me?
No, and this is the one rule with federal consequences rather than a fine. Cannabis cannot lawfully cross a state line even between two legal states, and airports and airspace are federal jurisdiction. Do not put it in checked luggage, hand luggage or a pocket. If you have some left at the end of a trip, leave it behind.
The short version
- Bring photo ID showing 21+. Out-of-state and foreign both fine.
- Buy from a licensed retailer — the licence number should be published and verifiable.
- Consume on private property only, never in a vehicle.
- Check your hotel’s policy before, not after.
- Finish it or leave it. It cannot come home with you.
