Eighteen days in the cure room

Harvest is roughly the halfway point, not the end. Fresh-cut cannabis is about 75% water and has to come down to around 11% slowly. Dry it fast and the volatile terpenes evaporate with the water, leaving something potent and characterless. We cure for eighteen days minimum.

Why speed ruins a batch

The compounds that give cannabis its smell are volatile: they leave at the same temperatures that drive off water. Force-drying with heat or moving air gets you to a sellable moisture content in three days and costs the batch its aroma permanently. Nothing downstream recovers it.

What the eighteen days look like

  1. Seven to ten days hanging in the dark at around 60°F and 60% humidity.
  2. Into sealed glass, opened daily at first so the remaining moisture in the stem can equalise out into the flower.
  3. Opened weekly thereafter, until moisture and water activity both read in range on the panel.
  4. Only then is it jarred for sale.

How you can tell

A properly cured flower snaps rather than bends, smells like itself rather than like hay, and does not sting the throat. A rushed one is often greener to look at and disappointing to open.

This is not medical advice. Nothing here is a therapeutic claim, and nobody at Cannalab47 is qualified to give one. Cannabis affects people differently. Adults 21+ only.
