COMPARISON

THC vs CBD.

THC is the compound that makes cannabis intoxicating. CBD is not intoxicating and does not produce a high at any dose. Products are sold as THC-dominant, CBD-dominant or in a stated ratio, and both figures appear on every certificate Cannalab47 publishes.

The two compounds named on almost every label, and the one difference between them that decides everything else.

So which should you actually buy?

  • Choose THC-dominant if you want the intoxicating effect cannabis is normally bought for.
  • Choose CBD-dominant if you specifically do not want to feel intoxicated. It will not get you high at any dose.
  • Choose a balanced ratio if you want some of the character with less of the intensity — and read the milligram figures rather than the ratio alone.

What does a ratio like 1:1 mean?

The first number is CBD, the second THC, so 1:1 is equal parts and 5:1 is five times as much CBD as THC. A ratio tells you the balance but not the amount — a 1:1 product can be 2 mg of each or 20 mg of each, and those are very different things. Read the milligrams, not only the ratio.

Are topicals intoxicating?

No. Topicals are applied to the skin and do not cross into the bloodstream in any meaningful amount, which is why they do not produce a high regardless of what they contain. That is a statement about how they are absorbed, not a claim about what they do.

Neither compound is described here as treating any condition. Cannabis products sold by Cannalab47 are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and nothing on this page is medical advice.

Questions people actually ask

What is the difference between THC and CBD?

THC is the intoxicating compound in cannabis — the one responsible for the high. CBD is not intoxicating and does not produce a high at any dose. Both are measured and published on every certificate of analysis we issue.

Will CBD get me high?

No. CBD is not intoxicating at any dose. Products described as CBD-dominant may still contain a small amount of THC, so if avoiding THC entirely matters to you, read the milligram figures on the certificate rather than the headline description.

What does a 1:1 ratio mean?

Equal parts CBD and THC, with CBD stated first. It tells you the balance but not the strength — a 1:1 product might be 2 mg of each or 20 mg of each. Always read the milligrams alongside the ratio.

Do CBD topicals make you high?

No. Topicals are absorbed by the skin and do not enter the bloodstream in any meaningful amount, so they are not intoxicating whatever they contain. That is a fact about absorption rather than a claim about what they achieve.
